System 3000D Update to Software

Updates System 3000D with the authorized event and FIPS codes as of April 2003

The update is installed from diskette. You can create the update diskette if you have a PC running Windows and a 3.5 inch high density diskette drive. You will also need one formatted but otherwise empty diskette.

The update diskette is created by the program 3kupdate.exe, a Windows executable file. The program writes the necessary files to the diskette. You must not boot the diskette in your PC! The diskette must be used ONLY in System 3000D!

If you need help

If you downloaded the update file from the MTS internet site start HERE:

1. Launch the update creator by double-clicking the mouse on the file 3kupdate.exe. In the resulting dialog box, be sure the option "Writing on floppy" is checked, and that options "File extraction" and "Image file" are not checked, then click OK.

2. Put a 3.5 inch high density diskette in drive a: and click OK at the "Insert floppy to write" prompt. The program will format and then write data to the diskette.

3. Remove the diskette from the PC.
***DO NOT BOOT YOUR PC WITH THE DISKETTE IN THE DRIVE*** 

If you received an update diskette from MTS start HERE:

4. Mount the diskette in the drive on System 3000D. Press the front panel keys [ESC] [ENT] [2] [9] [9] [5] and wait for the menu to display on the LCD. Press [F5] to restart System 3000D.

5. The LCD displays the progress of the update and prompts you to remove the diskette just before it reboots.

6. Remember to review and adjust the event forwarding setup to suit your station's needs. Press the front panel keys  [ESC] [ENT] [2] [9] [9] [5] and wait for the menu to display on the LCD. Press [F3] for the setup menu, then press [5] to view and adjust the event forwarding delay. The System 3000D Manual explains this in greater detail.
